Building Better Regions Fund – Round Two open

Yesterday, the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Acting Minister for Regional Development and Acting Minister for Local Government and Territories, the Hon Darren Chester MP announced the opening of Round Two of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

BBRF is a competitive, merit based grant program, which supports regional areas through infrastructure projects under the Infrastructure Projects stream and community strengthening projects under the Community Investments stream.

The Infrastructure Projects Stream supports projects which involve the construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure that provide economic and social benefits to regional and remote areas.

The Community Investments Stream funds the following community activities, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, and leadership and capability strengthening activities.  These projects will deliver economic and social benefits to regional and remote communities. Infrastructure activities are not eligible for the Community Investments Stream.

Applications open: 7 November 2017 12:00 pm AEDT  (Daylight savings time)

Applications close: 19 December 2017 5:00 pm AEDT (Daylight savings time)

To be eligible, you must be a legal entity, have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be one of the following entities:

  • a local governing body as defined by the Local Government (Financial Assistance) Act 1995
  • a not for profit organisation.  In Round 2, not-for-profit organisations do not need to have existed for two years or more and audited financial statements are not required.

 

Queensland Government Grants

The Small Business Entrepreneur Grants Program is now open for applications.

The Grants are helping new small businesses to get off to a better start with access to planning, coaching and training.

Grants up to $5,000 (matched by participants) is available to help small businesses engage a consultant, advisor or business coach for up to three months and businesses choose their own consultant or advisor to work with.

To be eligible the business must:

  • have a business name registered within the last four years
  • have fewer than 20 employees at the time of applying for the grant
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • be based in Queensland
  • not be insolvent or have owners/directors that are an undischarged bankrupt.
