About us

Founded in 1882, the Townsville Chamber is an a-political and financially autonomous organisation working to continually improve business conditions in Townsville.  While we work collaboratively with all levels of government, with other representative bodies, as well as the private and public sectors, the Chamber’s greatest asset is its independence.  It allows us to advocate on a range of issues to advance the interest of our members in regional opportunities and community affairs.

As the voice of local business and industry for more than 130 years, our purpose is to “make business connections”. We serve 10,000 local workers employed by our 500 members.  The Chamber offers networking and promotional opportunities, information to improve business, and represent the membership to more than 100 groups at the local, state and national level.

The 2015 to 2017 Chamber Charter

The purpose of the Charter is to spell out the Chamber’s advocacy priorities over the next two years.  Those priorities are based on feedback from members, the current economic climate and the Board’s vision for the city.

The Chamber’s priorities have not changed over the past several years, but the order of the priorities themselves have. Our three main priorities are -  Jobs and Skills to restore investment confidence; City Defining Projects to create our own future; and Connectivity, be it by air, rail, road, sea or virtual.

The 2017/2019 version will be available shortly.
