About the Young Chamber

The Young Chamber Committee (YCC) is a committee of the Townsville Chamber. Its purpose is to engage the next generation of Chamber members and Chamber executive.

The YCC is the only business group in the region dedicated to issues of importance to Gen X and Gen Y. There is no age restriction to be a Young Chamber (YC) member. You just need to have an interest is issues concerning Gen X and Y.

The YC hold regular committee meetings and have representation on the Board of the Chamber.

The YCC has two special categories as part of the annual Chamber Business Awards. The Awards recognise the contribution of young business people and professionalunder the age of 35. Nominations open in March with applications due in early May. The Awards take place in late May/early June each year.

Follow them at /Young.chamber.

The YCC also host regular networking events, like -

Chamber Coffees: Every other Thursday, in Flinders Square, the City.  Between 8am and 9am.
The Coffees are an open-style of networking, with no RSVP required and no speeches. You grab a coffee from your favourite place, bring some business cards and meet the 25 to 30 people usually in attendance. The Coffees are a great way to break into the business network and to expand your existing networks.

Cash Mob: like Flash Mob but for shopping. With $20 in hand and using Social Media to communicate, the YCs come together to shop in a locally-owned business and support the local economy.  Find out more at /townsvillecashmob.
